Educational Recordings and e-Book
The recordings below provide information about opiate dependence and about treatment options for opiate dependence. In planning the recordings I wanted to provide something different from what is already out there– so I decided to record the information that I provide patients who come to see me for treatment. A person could gather the information that is on the tapes by going from site to site and reading about addiction and about Suboxone, but the recordings provide a more efficient way to learn what you need to know as you consider the options for yourself or for your friend or family member with opiate dependence.
In preparing the tapes I used good audio equipment and applied audio compression to reduce the dynamic range, making the recordings easier to hear in the car. Download the recording in MP3 format and burn your own CD or listen to the recordings on your MP3 player, or if you prefer, order the recordings on audio CD.
Recording #1: Treatment Options for Opiate Dependence. 1 hour, 16 minutes.
This recording is intended for opiate addicts considering treatment options, for friends or family members of opiate addicts in need of treatment, and for patients on Suboxone who have never been educated on how the medication works or who want to explain the medication to their spouse or parents. The recording describes the consequences of addiction and the philosophy behind the three major treatment options: step-based and abstinence-based treatment, methadone maintenance, and buprenorphine remission treatment. Issues addressed include pros and cons of treatment options and how long a person should stay on Subooxone.

I have also produced an e-book that answers most of the questions that I am asked through e-mail. I describe the approach that I recommend for surgery and pregnancy while on buprenorphine; chronic pain; medication interactions; side effects; plus many more topics of interest. Use the recommendations to spark discussion with your own physician. Consider your purchase to be a donation to my work on the blog and forum– and thank you very much! Instant Download: $9.95

I would appeciate your comments about long term use of suboxone for pain. I am a post-polio patient for the lasst 12 years and have been +10 pain in my buttock. Every exam has come up negative and it is assumed that the pain in my buttock has been caused by a crush injury. I have been on every opiate available and have had to quit all because of severe puritis. The physician I was seeing was treating me with Suboxone. He unfortunately just passed away. Suboxone has given me some relief. I would appreciate your input if thhis is the appropiate path to continue. Ihave been considering SCS, buit no patient data base is available for polio. I thank you in advance if you might may some comment abbout suboxone and pain.
Sincerely,
Steven L Diamond MD
